Osmerkin took his first art lesson
at the St. petersburg School for the Encouragement of Arts under Nikolai
Roerich. From 1911 to 1913 he studied at the Kiev Art Institute. In 1913
he went to Moscow and joind the Jack of Diamonds group.
After the revolution he settled in
Leningrad as a teacher of the Vkhutemas, later the Academy of Arts. In
1947, he was forced to abandon his work as a teacher and an artist being
accused of 'Formalism'. |
