Orloff studied at the Kiev Art Academy under V.F. Korenev. He continued his art education at the National Academy in New York under I.G. Olinsky, and at the Art Institute in Chicago under K. Buehr. In the 30's Orloff moved to Union Pier, Michigan, where he was active in the local community and taught art classes.
