Born Nalbandian (Armenia),  2 December 1918

Nikogosian, the oldest living folk artist of the USSR, studied sculpture from 1937 to 1940 at the Leningrad Repin Institute of Art and from 1944 to 1947 at the Moscow Surikov Institute. He is best known for his socialist-realist sculptures and paintings.
