Nappelbaum took his first lessons in photography at Osip Boretti's studio in Minsk. In 1988 he left Minsk en travelled trough Russia, Europe and the USA. In 1895 he opened a portrait studio in Minsk. In 1910 he move to St. Petersburg and in 1918 he made portraits of Lenin and his associates. He also portrayed a great number of Russian avant-garde artists such as Vladimir Tatlin. In 1938 he did a famous series of portraits of members of the Soviet Academy of Sciences. |
