Mishchenko graduated 1926 from the
Oryol Art School in Orel where the family had moved to in 1914. From
1927 to 1931 he lived and worked in different cities working as a
draufstman for several periodicals. In 1931 he moved to Moscow where he
worked as an illustrator and art editor of Molodaya gvardiya publishers.
In 1957 he switched to creative work in the form of engraving as
woodcuts and linocuts. He designed many bookplates and postcards
