Ivan Milev (Lalev) is regarded as the founder of Bulgarian Modernism, combining Symbolism, Expressionism and Art Nouveau in his works. In 1926 he graduate from the National Academy of Arts in Sofia where he had studied under Stefan Badzhov. He worked as an illustrator and cartoonist for several magazines
