Michelson studied 1906 under Lovis Corinth in Munich and 1908 at the Imperial Academy in St. Petersburg under Tsionlinskii. In 1911 he left again for Munich. In 1913 he started his 'Grand Tour' in Italy but was shut curt by War. He tried to return to Riga but was interned in Berlin. In 1917 he reached Riga and in 1918 he left Riga for Paris. In 1939 he fled France and settled in New York City where he died. His widow, Janine, selected Marshall, Texas, as the permanent home for her late husband's works in what is known as the Michelson Museum of Art. |
