Born Kharkov, 25 August 1938

Mikhailov graduated 1962 as an engineer from the Charkov Technical University and started working at the city's public transportation. 1968 he started to teach himself photography. Today he is one of the most successful and well-known among the photographers who were already active in the Soviet era. His work combines conceptual art and social documentary photography. He works and lives both in Charkov and Berlin.
