Malyutin studied 1883-1886 at the Moscow College Painting, Sculpture and Architecture under I. Prianishnikov, V. Makovskii and E. Sorokin. He worked 1901-1903 in Taleshkino. In 1903-1917 het taught at the Moscow College Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. From 1903 member of the Russian Artists' Association. In 1914 he was honoured Academician. In 1918-1923 he taught at the Svomas and Vkhutemas. In 1922 he was co-founder of the AKhRR.
