Louis Lozowick

Lozowick attended the 1903-1905 Kiev Art School. Because of the 1905 upheaval he escaped to the US to join his brother in New York city. In 1912 het started studying at the national Academy of Design under Leon Kroll and others. He completed an art course at Ohio University before joining the army. In 1919 he returned to Europe and got acquainted with Cubsim and Constructivism. In 1923 he was introduced to lithography which would become his favourite means of artistic expression. Beginning in 1925 he wrote many articles and designed many illustrations for various periodicals. He remained active all his life as a lithographer, a costume designer, scenographer and writer.
