In 1885, Lobovikov started working as an
apprentice in a photographic studio in Viatka. In 1894 he opened his own
studio and photographed the peasant way of life. In 1900 he joined the
Russian Society of Photographers and became chairman of the Viatka
Society of Photographers and Art Circle in 1908. From 1909 til 1922 he
worked at the Viatka Museum of Art and History. In 1934 he moved to
Leningrad and died in an air-raid during the Siege of Leningrad.
