Lissim graduated 1919 from the Naumenko gymnasium and studied at the A.S. Monko art school in Kiev. In 1919 he emigrated via Bulgaria and Yugoslavia to Berlin, where he studied at the Reiman Kunstschule. In 1921 he went from Wiesbaden to London and Paris. From 1923 on he designed for the theatre in Le Havre and from 1924 he designed for the Sèvres and Limoges porcelain factories. In 1940 he emigrated to the USA. From1944 to1971 he taught at the City College, New York. The LS Collection holds parts of the Lissim archive previously in the Sztein Collection. |
