Died Leningrad, 24 February 1962

Lapin studied at the Leningrad Art School under N. Radlov. From 1930 until his death Lapin worked as an engineer at the Leningrad Wire and Cable Plant. He and his wife, an art historian working for State Russian Museum, befriended Kazimir Malevich and other avant-garde artist.
