Lecuire met Lanskoy in 1948 and would 1958 engage him in illustrating his long prose poem Cortège. At Lecuire’s suggestion, Lanskoy designed a series of 24 compositions in the ‘papiers collés’ method. Lecuire’s prose poem that opens with the lines:  “This book is a cortége. It has its colours, action, and animation. It blazes, it proclaims one knows not which passion….” was translated by Lanskoy into vibrant images, printed in pochoir technique.
