Lansere was the son of the sculptor E. Lansere. Zinaida Serebriakova was his sister and Alexandre Benois his nephew. He studied from 1892 to 1896 under Tsionglinskii in St. Petersburg and from 1896 to 1899 in Paris at the Academie Julien. From 1917 to 1920 he lived in Dagestan and then until 1934 in Tblisi. After 1934 he lived and worked in Moscow.
