Ladyzhensky studied from 1924 to 1931 at the Odessa Art School. He worked as a scenographer at the national theatres in Krasnodar, Stalingrad, Tashkent and Ashkabad until 1935. From 1936 to 1958 he worked at the Mosfilm Studio in Moscow. In 1978 he emigrated to Israel.
