Died Moscow, 21 February 1968

 

Kuznetsov, son of an icon painter,  studied from 1891 to 1896 at the Saratov School of Painting and Drawing. In 1897 he entered the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture where he studied under A. Arkhipov and V. Serov. In 1907 he was a founder of the Blue Rose group. During the years of the revolution he headed the section of painting of the IZO Narkompros, creating new variations of oriental motifs. In 1924 he is one of the founders of the group Four Arts.
