Died Moscow, 18 March 1960

After some study at the Voronezh School of art and at the Moscow studio of Yuon and Dudin, Kuprin entered in 1906 the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. In 1910 he joined the Jack of Diamonds artists' group and started painting in cubistic style. He belongs to the group of the first Russian avant-garde artists.
