Grigory Krug was born into a
family of Swedish ancestors. The family moved in 1921 to Narva
(Estonia). Krug graduated 1929 from the Talinn Art School. In 1931 he
settled in Paris. In 1933 he got the commission to paint an iconostas
for a church in Paris. In 1948, he became a monk and settled in 1950 in
the hermitage at Mesnil-Saint-Denis.
