Evgenii Kropivnitskii studied from 1904 to 1911 at the Stroganov Institute in Moscow. Between 1912 and 1920 he lived in the Ural and Siberia before returning to Moscow in 1923. He was a founder-member of the Lianozovo group and married to the artist Olga Potapova.
