Krasnopevtsev, one of the most important modern Russian artists, graduated 1955 from the Moscow Surikov Art Institute. When Life Magazine published one of his still-life painting on its cover in 1956, he was thrown out of the Artist's Union but became one of the best known unofficial Russian artists.
