Died Moscow, 4 July 1953

Kotov studied 1903-1909 at the Kazan Art School and 1909-1916 at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts und N. Samokish. In 1922 he moved to Moscow. He is best known for his socialist realist portraits of Soviet prominent people and war scenes.
