Komarov studied in 1931 and 1932 with E. Kibrik and from 1933 to 1939 at the Moscow Surikov Institute under M. Rodionov. From 1940 to 1945 he worked at the Grekov war studios designing post stamps and posters. His illustrations often deal with the military.
