Khrzhanovskii graduated 1921 from the Irkutsk Art School. In
1923 he studied at the Petrograd Vkhutein under K. Petrov-Vodkin, K. Malevich
and P. Filonov and became a member of the Master of Analytical Art. In 1930 he
devoted all his time to theatre and in 1939 moved to Moscow where he worked in
the Music-Hall. Only in the 1960s he returned to painting influenced by the
works of Paul Klee.
