In 2004 Katsnelson designed two book White nights 7 and Vertigo executed in lino-gravure. Both illustrations and text are printed in the same technique: blue prints on black pages for the illustrations and blue prints on white pages for the texts. The book contains Russian captions but the text is in English. The style of the images is direct and expressive. Letters and images are reminding of the early works of Larionov and Gontcharova and an indivisible part  of the printed page. In his expressionist artist books and book art Katsnelson does not seek to question form and function. To him his works are mainly a mean of transferring his poetry and thoughts. Even though the result is not new, it is clearly a next step in the history of the Russian artist book. Conscious of the traditions of book art, this artist is one of the few young artists dealing with artist’s books in Russia today.
