Карпенко, Михаил Михайлович

Karpenko studied at the Depoartment of Physics and Mathematics at the Gomel Pedagogical Institute. Although not having had a formal education, he started working as an illustrator for the Minsk Komsomol newspaper Chyrvonaia zmena. Gomel. He particpated in the Great Patriotic War, got wounded and was evacuated to Tajikistan where he worked as an Poster designer and scenographer. In 1945 he was send to Riga toe worke as a posterdesigner. Here he engaged in book illustration and designed books for the Lithuanian state publishers in Riga.
