Kardovskii studied in Vladimir an Moscow until 1891. Studied 1892-1896 and 1900-1902 under Repin and Chistiakov at the Imperial Academy in St. Petersburg and 1896-1900 at the Azbe-school in Munich. From 1903-1907 he taught at the Akademy in St. Petersburg. In 1920-1930 he taught at the Moscow VkhUTEMAS. Participant "Zhar-Tsvet".
