Kahana was the son of Abraham Kahana, a scientist, author and publisher. In 1923 the family emigrated to Israel and settled in tel Aviv. Kahana graduated from the Herzliya Gymnasia in, studied in Rome, at the German Polytechnicum in Prague, in Haifa and graduated 1933 from the department of architecture of the London University College and started working for the Erich Mendelssohn Bureau of Architecture in Jerusalem. After1940 he livd and worked in Tel Aviv.
