Died Vilnius, 4 December 1997

Jonynas studied at the Kaunas Art school and wentin 1931 to Paris where he graduated as a wood engraver and book illustrator. In 1935 he returned to Lithuania and taught at the Kaunas Art School. In 1944 Jonynas lived in Germany and in 1950 he emigrated to New York. He returned to Lithuania in 1993.
