Andreas
was the only child of Alexej von Jawlensky and
Helene Nesnakomoff, the maid of Marianne von Werefkin.
By the time he was five years old, Andreas was painting with his father
and showed great talent at an early age.He
collaborated most closely with his father during the years in Zurich
between 1917 and 1921. His motifs were Russian people and Russian
scenery.
