Jawlensky studied 1889-1896 at the Petersburg Art Academy. There he met the painter Marianne von Werefkin and both left in 1896 for Munich. In 1911 he was a co-founder of the Blaue Reiter group. Many summers he spent with Werefkin, Münter and Kandinsky in Murnau. |
