Izdebski studied at the Odessa Art School from 1901 to 1903. In 1903 he studied in Munich at the Academy of Art. After taken part to the 1905 uprisings he was expelled and lived in Munich and Paris. In 1907 he returned to Odessa en started giving drawing lessons. He also started exhibiting his sculptures. In 1909 he organized the Izdebski Salon with numerous avant-garde artists both from Russia and abroad. In 1919, after having lived in Paris for some years, he fled Petrograd and settled with his family in Paris. In 1941 he fled France worked and lived from then on in New York
