Ioganson (his Swedish ancestors were called Johanson) studied in Moscow under A. Arkhipov, S. Maliutin and K. Korovin. From 1919 to 1922 he worked as a designer for the theatre in Krasnoiarsk. From 1937 to 1964 he taught at the Leningrad Repin Institute. He is best known for his socialist-realist paintings.
