In 1939 Igor Ilyinsky entered the Moscow Secondary Art School. In 1944, he graduated from high school and in the same year was admitted to the art department of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography intending to become a decorator. His studies from 1945 to 1951 at the Moscow VGIK under F. S. Bogorodsky, and Yu. I. Pimenov did turn him to illustrating. He worked mainly for the State publishing house Detskaya literature (Children’s literature) and illustrated over 140 books. |
