Born Destkoe Selo, 1 November 1923

 

Hollerbach had studied at the Leningrad High School of Art for only six months when the Nazis occupied Pushkin (Detskoe Selo) the small town where he lived. Subsequently, he spent the war years as a laborer in Germany, where he was sent with hundreds of thousands of Russian men and women to work in the fields and factories. After the war, Gollerbach studied from 1946 to 1949 at the Art Academy of Munich. In 1951 he settled in New York and entered in 1952 the American Art School in New York. He lives and works in New York city and conducts master critiques at the National Academy School of Fine Arts.
