Sergei Mikhalkov (1913-2009) is a writer and poet who is best known for his text of the Soviet and the Russian anthem and for his poetry for children. ‘Verses about the circus’ contains a series of short verses about magicians, jugglers, tightrope walkers and gymnasts, circus dogs, lions and other interesting things about the circus. Goppe bound twenty original water colours together in paper wrappers and in a carton sleeve. Both wrappers and sleeve are also adorned with an original water colour.
