Goncharov studied 1914-1915 at K.F. Iuon's studio and 1945-1946 at I. Mashov's studio in Mocow. From 1918-1927 he studied at the Moscow Vkhutemas/Vkhutein under P. Pavlinov and V. Favorskii. He lived and worked in Moscow.
