Prince Vladimir, of the Golitsyn family, graduate 1917 from the Moscow School of art. In 1920 and 1921 he studied under Konchalovskii at the Moscow Vkhutemas. In the 1920s he joined several (polar) expeditions. In October 1941 he was arrested as a class enemy and send into exile on the Sviyazhk island
