Olga Arbenina, daughter of the actor Nikolai Hildebrandt, who called himself Arbenin, graduated from the Aleksandrinskii Theatre in St. Petersburg as an actress in 1919. She became close friends with some of well known Russian poets such as Nikolai Gumilev, Osip Mandeshtam and Mikhail Kuzmin and married the poet Iurii Iurkun. At the beginning of the 1920s she started also working as a painter and watercolorist
