Gench (Genchoglian) studied in 1916 and 1917 at the Moscow studio of F. Rerberg and from 1918 to 1923  in Rostov at the Art School under M. Sarian and E. Lancere. He mainly worked as a caricaturist for the magazines Proektor and Krokodil.
