In 1910 Gan became a member of several Futuriss associations. From 1918 to 1920 he worked in the head section of the People's Commissariat of mass performances and circuses. In 1920 AV Lunacharsky took that post. In 1920 he became a member of a commission to develop a program of an ideological section of the party. In 1921 he became a founding member and active participant of the First Working Group of Constructivists INKhuK. In 1921 he started working with Alexander Rodchenko and in 1922 and 1923 he was editor of the magazine "Kino-Fot". In 1923 he was appointed artistic editor of the journal  "LEF", engaged in the design of books, posters and mass festivals. In 1928 he became a member of the group "October". He died in Novosibirsk.
