Filonov studied 1903-1908 in Moscow under Dimitriev-Kavkaski and 1908-1910 at the Academy in St. Petersburg. In 1911-1912 het travelled in France and Italy. He was a member of the Union of the Youth. In 1925 Filonov founded the art movement 'Masters of the Analytic Art'.
