Sophie Fedorovitch was the daughter of a medical doctor. In 1909 she started studying art in Cracow but had to return to Russia because of the outbreak of  the First World War. In 1916 she moved to Moscow where she studied in several studios. In 1918 she moved back to Minsk via St. Petersburg and in 1920 she was able to emigrate to London. She worked mainly as a stage designer. She died because of gas poisoning in her home in Brancaster (Norfolk).
