Ershov, son of the tenor Ivan Ershov, graduated 1947 from the Repin institute in Leningrad. He became a member of the Soviet Association of Easel painters and began in 1958 with illustrations for children' s books. From 1967 onwards, he illustrated many children's books together with his daughter Ksenia for several publishers in Leningrad and Moscow. He lived and worked in Leningrad.
