Galinka, daughter of the well known physicist Paul Ehrenfest, studied at the 'Nieuwe Kunstschool' in Amsterdam. Here she met her husband Jacob Kloot. Together the founded the enterprise 'Corunda' in which they produced 17 children's play- and picture books. Galinka was mostly the artist. The books publishd between 1941 and 1946, show a clear influence of the art of the Leningrad School of children's books from the 1920s and 1930s. In 1943 Jacob was arrested by the Germans and killed in Sobibor the same year. |
