Efimov studied drawing at the studios of Martinov and Zvantseva. In the early 1900s he studied painting under K.Korovin van V. Serov and sculpture under Golubkina. He also studied illustration under Kruglikova. In 1908-1911 he lived in Paris and studied at the Colarossi Academy.
