Denshin graduated from the Viatka Aleksandrov School before going to Moscow in 1913 where he studied at the Moscow School of painting and after the rewvolution at the Moscow Vkhutemas. He returned to Viatka and was one of the founders of the Viatka Museum specialized in the painte clay figures of Dymkovo, a village near Viatka/Kirov. He organized workshops around the Dymkovo toys also in Viatka.
