Bubnova graduated from the the Imperial Academy of art  an from the Imperial Archeological Institute. She got involved with Union of Youth and participated at its exhibitions. In 1922 she emigrated to Japan where she lived and worked until 1958 mainly as a teacher and developer of lithography. She also led courses of Russian Language and Literature at the Tokyo Waseda University. After returning to the Soviet Union she lived in Sukhumi.
