Brodskii studied at the Odessa Art School under Kostandii and Ladyzhenskii 1896-1902. From 1902-1908 he studied at the Academy in St Petersburg under Masoedov, Tsionglinskii and Repin.. He was one of the founders of the AkhRR, and fought the 'formalists'. He was a founder of socialist realism, famous for his iconic portrayals of Lenin. From 1934-1939 he was director of the Academy of Arts in Leningrad. |
