Brimmer studied 1923-1927 at the Vkhutein in Leningrad under V. Konsheviuch, D. Mitrokhin and P. Shilingovskii. He was editor of the magazine 'Gravyura na Dereve' (The wooscut). His wife Nataliya Fan der Flit (1901-1998) edited after Brimmer's death the last issue of this magazine in 1930.
